Summary
Leon Kennedy was certain he had already witnessed the worst of what the world and humanity had to offer. It didn't mean he was no longer affected by new horrors, but the sheer repetition of patterns had certainly numbed him. Yet, it was never enough to prepare him for that - never enough to watch Ada Wong die right in front of him.
In the midst of despair, he let slip a hidden, desperate, last-resort wish. He couldn't endure it anymore, not after almost losing her for good.
"And Leon would have been as relaxed as Ada if he weren't about to lay his chest wide open and hand her everything inside - along with the needle to stitch him back up."

Summary
Ada had participated in missions like this before. They were rare, especially for someone as highly sought after in the mercenary market as she was. But what was she supposed to say when Wesker offered her to do, what? To crash a wealthy mansion party and complete an easy assignment? Was she supposed to say no to that?
Or
Leon was deployed on yet another mission involving Frederic Downing. For the first time, however, his task wasn't the usual routine. No bioweapons to kill, no hostages to rescue. He just had to... infiltrate a party. Little did he know that nothing was so bad it couldn't get worse, and that he was in for a massive, unexpected surprise.
"Stunning. Ada was, to put it mildly, stunning.
And she was arm-in-arm with a man.
Leon couldn’t bring himself to look away. Ada’s hand rested casually on the arm of a tall, blonde, grim-faced man. His presence was cold, unsettling, but what was more unsettling was the way Leon’s stomach immediately churned at the sight. His throat tightened; his chest, in the simplest way possible, ached. Raw, immediate, all-consuming."
