Summary
If the Princess and the hero's friends had stopped for a moment to consider that one, lone Heartless that had followed them, perhaps the Princess could have restored it to human form. Perhaps, with her power, the hero would not have lost himself, and existed alongside an other who knew nothing of his past life, who struggled to understand himself.
But that did not happen here. The three never stopped for the single Shadow that followed them, and soon enough the Heartless let go of that last shred of humanity it had left. And elsewhere, a boy woke up in a small world with an ever-setting sun, his memories slowly returning.
And that, alone, was all it took to make a difference.

Vanitas glared at him for a moment. "There's a lot you don't know, Sora."
"Is it fun?"
Vanitas' glare softened to a scowl (Sora counted this as a small victory) and he paused in his work before speaking. "It gives me something to do. There's only so much a creature of the dark can do as a prisoner in this tiny place."

Van gasped as he sat upright in bed. Stupid, it was just a dream! He was almost ten years old, he shouldn't be having nightmares like this anymore, or at least getting so scared over them!

Summary
"Allow me to introduce you. Riku, this is my nemesis Agent Sky. Agent Sky, this is my nephew Riku. He stays with me during weekends. Honestly, I am quite surprised you haven't met him until now."
Riku opened his mouth to speak, but Agent Sky cut him off before he could. "Nice to meet ya. But we're kinda busy. I gotta get out of here and do my job, you know?"
"You can try," Doctor Darkness scoffed. "But its deadbolted. Perhaps now I can finish my plans. I hope you enjoy your front row seat to my taking over the world." With that, he turned on his heel and strutted to the machine, typing at the controls.
"Mind telling me what's going on, Sora?" Riku growled when he got close enough that his uncle couldn't hear.
