Summary
When he compares his life to something so filled with variety, all that can come to mind is that he is being sabotaged. All the right moves. All the perfect plays. Not a single strand of hair out of place and yet—and yet—, he cannot get to the end as easily as his peers. He cannot win, always falling behind, always gathering himself up from a loss that wasn't supposed to happen because he was a genius, the best of the best, a natural born leader who had the cards to deal as much damage as possible but was beaten by some kid that wasn't even using them right, pouring all his energy into things that didn't matter, that made no sense, that were utterly ridiculous as a concept to even consider.
And yet, the kid wins, eagerly so, beaming like the fucking sun as he clambers up the precarious rubble of a submerged building, hopping from platform to platform, yanking himself from curtain canopy to curtain canopy, scraping his hands on rusty nails and cutting tears into his pants from broken railings.

Summary
Raito truly brings out the worst in him, the absolute hideousness he's tried to keep at bay, dragging it out with well timed quips about how awful he is at one thing or another and playing badminton with his emotions that still throw even Tomoro himself for a loop.
Crying over the idea of Raito leaving. His stomach twisting itself into knots at the thought of anyone in Glowing Dawn finding out where Tomoro really gets his bruises from, why he often stumbles and shambles about, every part of his body aching in memory of Raito tackling him to the ground, kicking him across the roof until he crashes into the shallow water below, dodging his flimsy blows until Tomoro puts more power into them, grazing his cheek and making him stumble, crashing back down to earth.

Summary
It makes what he's doing now something like a laughing stock. If Naito saw him where he was, circling around the roof of a submerged building that crumbles upon added weight no more than two flimsy human beings, facing off against a boy that's bested him time and time again—oh, he knows that the discipline would probably worse than what happened with Tinkermon. No, it would be worse.
Being fired would be the least of his worries, he's sure, and yet—Raito continues, trying to spot weaknesses in Tomoro's relaxed stance, to know where to strike to topple the boy off balance, because Naito isn't here, not anymore, and Raito can slide himself along the ground to get closer, throwing out his leg and watching Tomoro block with an arm, still sliding closer to the edge.

Summary
Tomoro didn't deserve a half assed explanation. He didn't deserve Raito's less than stellar skills in empathy and compassion. Seeing those stupid eyes of his, eyes that glowed like stars and looked like the setting sun when it turns the landscape a fiery red, scream stay when they look at him make Raito's head spin.
Seeing his reflection in those shaking pupils, the tousled hair from Tomoro grabbing it. His pale face from the boy's words. His own eyes, wide and shaking while his cheek bleeds, Tomoro's nail dug deep into his skin, made him want to recoil and fly as far away from Tomoro as possible, hiding away until the boy stopped contacting him, stopped thinking about him, until Tomoro forgot he existed and went back to living his life, trying to get his brother back, maybe even settling for someone who wasn't so backwards and complicated and wrong.

Summary
He wished, desperately so, that people weren't so confusing, that he could understand others at just a glance, that he hadn't been pulled out of his shell and seen the real world because now he wants connection. He wants to feel warmth and understand this weird fluttery feeling in his chest and get answers as to why his stomach flips and twists and turns itself into knots all because of someone he practically knew nothing about except for surface level details. He doesn't even know his birthday let alone something as personal as blood type or if he has any family or whether or not he has allergies or foods he hates and yet, his body betrays him, chest squeezing at the sight of blue hair tousled about in the wind, stomach twisting into knots when sunset colored eyes peer at him, face getting warm and his lungs constricting when that crooked smile is sent his way.
All for someone that Tomoro merely knew three solid facts about. His name. His age. His desperation to prove himself nearly leading him to total annihilation.

At the mention of the deleted digimon, Raito winces, biting down on his tongue. It was easy to see, over time, how much of a fool Sone had played him for back then. Doing all of that to protect his mirror reflection just to spout that nonsense about how he didn't even matter was just as performative as—
No. He wasn't going to think about that while facing a man who could very well kill him right here and there. There were more appropriate times to have a mental breakdown over how fucking stupid he'd been and right now was not one of those times.

Summary
He's supposed to walk back home and restock the medicine cabinet in the bathroom as per Reina's instructions. He's supposed to keep his head high, keep walking, and never look back no matter what. He's supposed to have put this all behind him, because there was nothing going on and he had just been thinking too much for no real rhyme or reason but how was he supposed to do any of that when an arm slithers around his own to yank him backward, his umbrella slipping away to clatter to the ground at the same time as the gray one, giving him a clear view of tousled blue hair and wide orange eyes with cheeks flushed the slightest pink. Monsoon season was always so cold.
His breath comes out in a hitch. His voice betrays him as it utters out, "Raito," like he is praying to the heavens above and Raito jerks, letting go of him as if he'd been burned, his mouth opening and closing. A fish out of water he looks like to Tomoro, staring with eyes so wide they resemble dinner plates and mouth unable to close properly like a door with rusty hinges.
