Summary
The gun recoils back ever so slightly as Buck pulls the trigger on Daniel. He does everything in his power to steady his shaking hand, of course, he’s killed before, but something was so different this time. Buck told Daniel, said he didn't enjoy hurting him, the ache in his heart growing ever so quickly as he regained his composure. He didn't have a choice, he tells himself, as if he isn’t familiar with his own manipulation tactics. Buck puts his blazer back on, daring to look back at Daniel’s body as the metallic scent rose from it and covered the whole room.

Buck's perspective after killing Daniel, and his slight spiraling as he questions his own actions and why he felt as if they were laced with guilt and regret.

Summary
Buck decides to bury Daniel upstate, same place where the two went last time, a silent ode to some of his last memories with the man. The same thoughts echoed in his head, all the way throughout the drive. This time, he was alone. Next to him, the ghost of possibly his only friend, whose body was stuck in the boot of his car.

Summary
Buck could see the image of Daniel in his peripheral vision, looking at him, “Why are you here, man?” Daniel asks him, and despite knowing none of it was real, Buck couldn't stop himself from replying, from gazing up at the eyes of his late friend. The question makes him ask himself, too. He visited more often now. Maybe it was the gunshot wound in his abdomen that still makes him wince when he thinks about it, not being able to come around and sit with Daniel while he was recovering. He’s making up for lost time. It could also be the idea that the pain he suffered was barely a percentage of what Daniel went through.
“I know you’re not exactly fond of me, Daniel, but it feels only right considering the circumstances,” he says, voice softer than usual. It always seemed to be that way when he spoke at Daniel’s grave, the cold face he adopted shedding when it was just the two of them, even in death.
OR
Daniel comes back as a ghost a few weeks after his death. He's bound to Buck, for some reason, and he's there for an indefinite amount of time. Buck doesn't know how to live with it and neither does Daniel.

Summary
Buck wished so many times to see Daniel once more in death, and there he was. The first half was fulfilled for him, it was now up to him to do exactly what he promised to. And then, he did, which meant that it was the end of the deal. Daniel would be gone soon, probably by the next day, taking everything into consideration. “I think I’ve figured it out,” he whispers against Daniel’s lips, breathing in the same air as he was. He was quite confident that this was the case, and at least he knew to make the most of it, but it didn't hurt any less.
It was a blessing, yes, a prior warning, but they were running out of time. It was the strangest feeling, acknowledging the ticking of the clock in the background, actively knowing that with every second wasted, they were moments closer to Buck losing Daniel, forever this time, as if the first wasn’t enough.

The hours before the ghost of Daniel Blake returns to the grave.
