Summary
One of Jabber's thumbs finds a particular whorl and pauses there, circling and rubbing the pattern before continuing on its path. Zanka's breath hitches slightly and he finds himself swallowing heavily.
"-cause it- Man, are you even listening?"
"Huh?" Zanka's eyes snap up to Jabber's, completely caught off guard. His neck, face and ears feel like they're on fire and his hands shake where they're pinned behind him. Were he not already on the ground, he's sure his legs would feel like jelly.

Summary
Zanka will admit to anyone that he loves his Vital Instrument. It’s kind of a baseline requirement of being a Giver. No one judges him too harshly for it (even though, by Giver standards, he can be a little over the top). What he doesn’t really tell anyone though, is that he has a deep admiration for other people’s Vital Instruments, too.
It’s logical though, isn’t it? When someone cares for something so deeply that it gains a soul, you naturally want to find out what it is about that object they love so much.
With Mankira on his tongue, he can tell clearly what it is about her that’s special.

“It ain’t cheatin’, ‘cause thats an insane thing to think.” Zanka mutters to himself in the empty room.
Well, empty save for Lovely Assistaff.
She can’t talk, of course, since she’s not a person. And that’s exactly what Zanka is concerned with. She isn’t a person. Lovely Assistaff is an object, and his Vital Instrument, and he loves her very dearly. But she isn’t a person and she isn’t his girlfriend...
So why does he feel like he’s cheated on her?
