From the inspiration: There’s a sign in front of Shane. It says Welcome to Scott Hunter and Kip Grady’s Happily Ever After in a cursive font that makes Shane think of Etsy. Shane’s stomach churns. He briefly squeezes his empty ring finger. He feels, all at once, like he might cry. Instead, he swallows, and breathes, and pastes a smile on his face, and marches his ass down to Scott and Kip’s fucking wedding of the century.
I read this series today, and it ate my brain. I was meant to be doing sensible things, but instead I was finding pretty pictures of hockey boys who really like to kiss each other! Hopefully, you're vaguely entertained by my amateur fanart, aided by a medicinal high!

Shane says too much, naturally, and the boys end up sharing a whirlwind twenty-four hours that will change their futures in the most wonderful way.

"Ilya regretted not checking his carry-on—while totally unnecessary, it would have bought him an extra twenty minutes of staring at a spinning carousel before he had to face his impulsive offer to comfort the man he was used to pounding his dick into. Instead, he had about a fifteen minute walk to reconcile how after seven years of the same shit, he was about to become the man who could maybe offer more than just nine inches and an orgasm. He was sure to walk slowly, knowing damn well that the slower he walked, the quicker Shane’s mind would spiral. If he walked any slower, he’d miss the surgery altogether."

Professional. Definitely professional.
For years, Shane has shot Ilya from the pit: first three songs, no flash, get the shot, get out. Then Rozanov’s lead guitarist gets arrested at the border, the tour starts rearranging itself around disaster, and Shane finds himself getting closer to the machine than any photographer is supposed to get.A photo pass becomes a backstage pass. A backstage pass becomes a job. Access becomes proximity.
And proximity, unfortunately, has consequences.

It’s Ilya's turn to watch Shane in action. He doesn’t care who sees his face, but he’s not the one in front of the camera right now so he lets himself lean into his folded arms against the arena fence, keeping his face warm in the cold Canada winter.
He’ll never get sick of watching this. The way Shane moves on the back of his horse is poetry in motion. It’s as beautiful as Shane is when he’s underneath him, all the walls and barriers toppled over and nothing but open prairie left.
The way Shane moves in the arena, it’s no wonder the crowd loves him. He is the shining jewel of rodeo, calm and calculated as if each twitch of his muscle is timed perfectly. While Ilya is brash and loud with his movements, Shane’s are so incandescently controlled. How anyone would want to change that in him, clearly does not understand the magic that comes from that man’s limbs.
