"Sorry, we-" Liam started, and then was cut off as Max began speaking.

Summary
It wasn’t Charles’ fault, but it was hard to feel like their relationship was real when it was only allowed to exist away from race tracks and teams. It was hard for Max to feel like he really had Charles when they couldn’t see each other, when nobody could know.
Nobody could know.
That was what it really came down to in the end. Max’s mother didn’t even know. He’d said those exact words on that night in Las Vegas. Max didn’t need the world to know, but hiding like they were made what they had feel like a dirty secret. Charles was scared. Whether it was of Ferrari, or the fans, or the media, that is what it came down to. And Max couldn’t blame him. He was scared too.

Max's eyes widened, "Schatje," Charles squeezed his eyes shut. He was going to cry if Max called him that name, in that soft, desperate voice again, "The contract has nothing to do with how I feel."
Charles turned back to face the ceiling, eyes still squeezed shut, head shaking back and forth, "Don't pretend it didn't kill you."
"Of course it killed me! The man I have been in love with since I was a child was forced to stay away from me in public. I was so happy, everyone knew that, but I couldn't tell anyone that the reason I was the happiest I'd been in my life was because of you!"

Summary
Liam shivered, body shifting up into the contact, his hand coming up to cover Isack's on his stomach.
Isack leaned over to whisper into his ear, "Do you want me to keep my promise?" his hand drifting a little further up his thigh.
