Summary
Caitlyn Kiramman is trying very hard to build a life entirely on her own terms. Between journalism classes and exhausting shifts at a run-down diner near campus, she’s determined to prove she doesn’t need her family’s wealth to survive. The job is thankless, the coffee is terrible, and most days blur together in a haze of chipped plates and burnt oil until one afternoon, her favorite food influencer walks through the door.
Vi, better known online as deVIcious, built her platform teaching broke students how to make comforting meals out of practically nothing, and Caitlyn has spent months quietly relying on her recipes while adjusting to life away from home. Meeting her in person is overwhelming enough. Serving her food from a barely-two-star diner is even worse. Determined not to let Vi have a terrible experience, Caitlyn drags the entire kitchen into creating the best meal they’ve managed in years, all while trying desperately to remain professional instead of visibly spiraling over her celebrity crush. And when Vi leaves promising there’ll be a “next time,” Caitlyn realizes that maybe this ordinary little restaurant is about to become the start of something extraordinary.
