Gi-hun parted his lips, the words forming automatically—then freezing in his throat. A prickle crawled along his spine, an instinct so sharp it felt like a hand gripping the back of his neck. Something was wrong. Deeply, quietly wrong.
Gi-hun never joined the games, but he is still a man trapped in a desperate situation. Consumed by guilt and the overwhelming need to save his mother, Gi-hun reluctantly turns to Mr. Kim, and makes a deal to work for him in exchange for an advance on the funds required for the surgery. He doesn't know the brutal and degrading nature of the work until it's too late.
But at least one of the clients treats him well. Or so he thinks...

Summary
During his time at Mr Kim's brothel, Gi-hun receives a visitor he recognizes. Someone he met only once, on a subway platform, almost a year ago, who offered him a way out through a simple game of chance. But the Salesman hasn't come to save him. He's come to play a different game entirely-one where truth is the only currency, and the consequences for lying are measured in pain.
As the Salesman forces Gi-hun through a brutal interrogation, the line between punishment and reward blurs, and Gi-hun must decide what he's willing to sacrifice to protect the one person who still treats him like a human being.
