People got lost here all the time. The place was a maze. Usually adults, looking to buy something illegal and ending up getting sold illegally instead. Kids were different. They cried and panicked. They, for sure, didn’t fight back.
And yet this one was.
He grabbed the kid and started walking, tugging him along without much thought. He didn’t know where he was going. Or why. He just knew he wanted to spend more time with him.
There was a tug in his chest. He felt… happy.
Zanka.
That was the kid’s name.
Zanka, you’re the first interesting thing I’ve seen in a while.

OR, Zanka and Jabber meet as children one day after Zanka ran from home. They grow closer, they become menaces to Cthoni's sanity, they grow apart, they meet again.

"You play?" Jabber asked, turning to Zanka.
Zanka picked at the edge of his sandwich. "Not really."
"Like, what do you play?"
"I mean…" He hesitated. The honest answer was nothing, and the honest answer had a history behind it he didn't particularly want to get into over canteen sandwiches. "I just didn't really grow up playing games."
Jabber stared at him.
"What," Zanka said.
"You never played video games."

Or Zanka grew up in a family where fun wasn't exactly on the agenda. He's never played video games, and Jabber obviously can't let that go unresolved. What better way to start than with horror games?
