Some interesting notes about Alpha/omega biology in this AU:
- omegas get heats or silent heats if they refuse to have the normal version. Heats are usually very easy to control the symptoms of if they're managed properly. Omegas in heat hyperovulate, get super sensitive/needy/vulnerable, and instinctively defer to their mate if they have one
- silent heats end up being more intense in some ways but lose a lot of the outward symptoms like a lack of appetite (bc you'd just die if you did all that fucking and no eating lol) and loss of autonomy (it makes omegas obsess about sex a lot more but it doesn't literally "dickmatize" them)... It also doesn't go away like a normal heat would until it's dealt with, it can literally last for years if the omega is kept stable/healthy in other ways
- heats are triggered by scent (through chemicals in the bonding gland of an omega when in the vicinity of the right Alpha hormones) and USUALLY only happen 1-2 times a year and last a few days to a week, but in cases where they aren't well managed it can get super intense and even dangerous for omegas
- bonding happens when an Alpha bites an omegas bonding gland, pretty typical for this type of AU
- homie is infertile due to Odessa V trials and never had Ryan or any other children and never will be able to. He's VERY happy without them with sb anyway though
- homie is incredibly submissive even to Vought and his handlers there due to his biology more so than psychological methods like in the show. He can still do whatever the fuck he wants, he just happens to want to be a good boy more than anything else (mostly)
- sb is very much in love with homie regardless of their Alpha/omega status & connection as fated mates but he would like never admit it. And he acts a LOT sweeter during homies heats because he can just let himself say it's the hormones
- homie and sb would NOT have ended up as fated mates if sb raised his son. It only happens because of the way their biology interacts after being reunited at the perfect compatible mating stages in their lives (homie is 37 and sb is 27 plus ageless/immortal so they're both in their physical primes)
- also fated mates are a rare phenomenon that only occurs in specific scenarios- ie sb/homies trauma with being separated. It has happened between strangers but its the thing of movies and naive daydreams. It's just a more intense version of regular mating, and it physically affects those involved a LOT more heavily. It can kill omegas to be separated from their Alpha- on the lesser end it would cause irreparable psychological damage that would not be fixable by current scientific means. Just a bad time, do NOT separate the boys!
