And the grin on Susie’s face, that grin, so happy and clear and lit up a little softer than usual, is one Kris can’t bring themself to crush between their own trembling fingertips. It doesn’t matter that scathing guilt that still lingers within their chest when they look at Noelle, hidden away even more securely than that SOUL of theirs. It doesn’t matter that neither of the two are looking at them. It doesn’t matter that the crimson blushes pooling on both their faces are bright with the young flickerings of first love.
It doesn’t even matter that Kris is there. And it shouldn’t matter. A long, long time ago, Noelle’s smile had tasted like peppermint. It’s none of their business to wish so desperately they knew what Susie’s mouth might taste like too.

An interpretation of Kris's internal conflicts throughout Chapter 5 relating to Susie and Noelle, as well as a twist on what might happen if, even despite the consequences, they removed the SOUL before taking Susie home. A teeny bit more Krusie-centric due to the nature of this chapter.
