Hanbin leans back, looking at the sun setting slowly across the horizon.
There’s tears in his eyes, but he simply shuts them. Because fuck—he imprinted on Hao. Sweet, innocent, kind Hao. Hao who smiled so kindly at his gift, and his tangy scent that sits at the top of his tongue—he could melt in it, lose himself completely in Hao, give himself away until he's but a puddle warmed by the sun.
Naturally, Hanbin shoves all this deep, deep down. Imprinting isn’t real, because if it was, it sure was a shitty way for a wolf to get a mate, and he simply wasn’t the kind of alpha to assume such things like that his claim means anything. It doesn’t. It hardly counts. It isn’t real.

Oh, Hao…
Hanbin wishes that he'd never imprinted on Hao. That he could be whisked away by Hao's beauty in a normal sense, and that all these times spent together wouldn’t have the undercurrent of the tension within him. He wishes that, under the night sky, he could confess to all his raw emotions without so much cold, paralyzing fear coursing through him. He wishes he didn't have to take suppressants or faint when he stands up too quickly. He wishes his teeth didn't hurt and his jaw didn't ache, or his eyes didn’t burn. Maybe then, Hao could have the pretty pictures he asked for, maybe then, Hanbin could give him everything in the world, every bit of himself to Hao, and be handled gently. But that isn’t the case. He imprinted on Hao, and he’s too afraid to put that onto him, and he’s become sick with his own omissions, and now tonight has become a night of anger and hurt instead of gentle and soothing, romantic.

Honestly, I’m using a translator for some of the things I want to say, so sorry if they come out wrong. On top of that, I’m not really the best at being all sentimental like this, but I felt that you deserved something like this in return for all you have done for me.
When I moved to Seoul, I wasn’t expecting such a warm welcome. I thought that, at best, I would maybe make friends with a person who would only interact with me when we just so happened to pass by. I would have been thankful for even that, honestly. Instead, I met you, who goes out of your way to see me when you don’t have to and check in on me and give me all these nice gifts like food and coffee and clothes and the such. At first, I thought that maybe it could have been a prank that the universe was pulling on me, giving me the chance to meet somebody so kind and warm.
I’m glad, though, that it wasn’t a prank, and that everything you have done for me is done with nothing but genuinity. It may not seem like it, but it really does mean so much to me. I’m happy that I can go into the new year with you in my life!
