Summary
My Captain finds herself thrust into the Settled Systems in the year 2330 from a most unlikely homeworld: Earth of 2025. A bizarre electrical storm sends a chopper that departed a Washington naval base through a traversable wormhole to crash into a swamp on Jemison in the Alpha Centauri system more than 300 years later. Lilu finds herself beginning a new life as a miner with Argos Extractors, under United Colonies supervision. She's suddenly plunged into a hunt for special Artifacts with Constellation. She meets the man, quite literally, of her dreams in Sam Coe, a former Freestar Ranger turned explorer. But a fairy tale ending is nowhere close, because Lilu is no princess. She's a hardened soldier from a different life. Constellation and the Settled Systems won't know what to make of her. Neither will Sam. Lilu has a lot of painful trauma to overcome and Sam isn't lacking in baggage himself. Our time traveler might just find healing in this new frontier. If everyone will just give her a fighting chance, she could tip the balance towards Constellation's success. And maybe find lasting love with Sam. If they get in her way, they risk their own peril.

Summary:
Lilu has become Starborn, and it has broken her heart. Steeped in regrets for everything she lost by passing through the Unity, she descends upon the Settled Systems again because she doesn't know where else to go. But she does know who she feels is responsible. Nevertheless, she returns to the scene of the crime, where it all started: Constellation.
And there, Lilu finds things are... different. Difficult relationships are easier. Is this what a multiverse is really like? Not an identical copy, but a riff off what she had known before? What else might be different in how the universe plays out over time? One thing that wasn't different: her rage when she sees the one person to whom she can assign the blame for being there in the first place. And is he in for a rude awakening when she gets her hands on him. That's one cowboy heading for a showdown at the OK Corral, and he doesn't even know it's coming.
