Summary
When the new human started asking for Grace, the Eridians did everything in their power to accommodate.
Grace was waiting on the other side, flanked by a pair of Eridians he named Quartz and Ruby. He wrung his hands, an anxious tick that the handlers recognize, as the entourage with their new human entered.
The new human startled at seeing Grace. His eyes darted around the biosphere, but they always ended up right back on the other human, as if trying to understand what he was seeing.
“I know this is a lot,” Grace said, placating with his hands up and visible. Inhibiting human vision was seen as a threat, as Grace had once explained. “I’m Grace. I—Have we met before? I don’t think we have, but they said you were asking for me, so I’m not sure—“
The new human finally stopped examining his surroundings and frowned at him. “You’re not Grace.”Or,

Ryland spread his arms in a grand gesture. “Ta-da! You can take the bed. I’ll sleep on the couch.”
He went to walk past Rocky, but Rocky stopped him with a hand on his chest. “It’s your house, you take the bed.”
Ryland was already shaking his head. “No, no, no you’re the guest! You take the bed.”
“Ry, get in the bed.”
Rocky tried to be firm, and it made Ryland pause. Something changed in his eyes as he stared back at Rocky. The drunken haze seemed to lift, leaving behind an intensity that made Rocky’s face flush. Suddenly the contact of his hand on Ryland’s chest was too much. Too tense. Before he could pull away, Ryland pressed a hand over his.
