Summary
In an alternate universe, Shane struggles with his feelings towards you and believes he is too late to express any love for you other than what his job strictly entails as your private security. Recognizing that you love Simon doesn't stop him from pretending that you could be his in stolen moments. After an encounter where he needs to defend and protect you it becomes harder to avoid those feelings. Simon, ever the observant man notices his struggle.
What Shane doesn't realize is that Simon trusts him as much as you do. Taking the opportunity to bring Shane into the fold, Sweetheart gifts Shane a present for his birthday and discusses their future together.
