Summary
Riley finally manages to slowly put their life together after getting out a longtime abusive relationship when The Freak Circus of Horrors comes to town. However they never expected it to bring an obsessive (and shockingly adorable) clown into their life who's determined to make them feel loved whether they like it or not. Riley and Pierrot have to navigate the minefield of Riley's trauma and it only gets worse when Pierrot manages to make the biggest mistake he possibly could. But perhaps this band of monsters was exactly what Riley needed in their life all along?

Summary
In an attempt to better understand Harlequin's character, I created a set of small drabbles based on various scenes in my main TFC fic, Runaway. If you'd like to see some of the story from his perspective, please check it out! I've included part of the original scene for both context and easy searching. The new writing takes place after the break. All dialogue remains the same, some small sections are lifted completely from the previous writing but I tried to add more thoughts and a couple new scenes here and there.
Small note, I struggle a lot with characters like Harlequin so I apologize if he's a bit OOC. I've decided to do my own spin on each of them so hopefully this can help show my take on his personality and thoughts and how it shifts over the course of the story! I may add more scenes as I continue testing the waters with him.

Summary
Riley has dropped everything in their life to join The Freak Circus of Horrors and remain with Pierrot and their newfound family. However being a human living amongst monsters is far from easy and it's not long before they're struggling to come to terms with their new life and who they are in the circus. Riley wants to believe they belong but everything seems to contradict that. In the end, they'll have to unravel the rest of the circus' secrets and grow into their new role as a troupe member if they want to stay. After all, in order to live amongst monsters you must become one.
