Summary
Impulse hadn’t noticed him yet, seemingly too engrossed in his work, Grian didn’t want to disturb him, but he also didn’t want Impulse or Skizz to think he was dead weight.
So he stood there, watching Impulse, waiting (hoping) for the man to look over at him so that Grian wouldn’t disturb him but would be able to offer help.
Impulse didn’t need to accept the help, Grian knew how much he cared about his kitchen, and had seen him kick out Skizz enough to know. But Grian needed him to know that he could help.
That he could be useful.
That they hadn’t made a mistake in taking him in.

Summary
“Y’know, Grian, when we first started living together, and Skizz would get how he does, he asked me something.”
Grian turned to look at Impulse again, curiosity spiking, “what did he ask you?”
“He said,” and Impulse changed his voice then, doing a very poor imitation of Skizz, “Dippledop, if I’m ever caught up like that, I want you to come and annoy me until I take a break.”
And then he changed back into his normal voice and said, “and I said ‘that’s a very dangerous thing to ask me Skizz, I’m gonna take it as a challenge y’know, try to be as annoying as possible’”
“And Skizz said, ‘challenge accepted, Dop! Bring it on.’”
And somehow Impulse’s impression managed to get worse. It managed to get so bad that Grian couldn’t help himself but laugh. He couldn’t help himself but laugh so hard that he had to hold his stomach, that his wings began to shake and he curled them around him the way he did when he was amused.
Impulse narrowed his eyes at him, but he was still smiling, “hey! What’re you laughing at?” his tail shook lazily behind him.
Between gigglings Grian managed to choke out, “you sound—nothing like Skizz.”

Maybe if he cleaned it up they wouldn’t be too mad at him.
Almost robotically Grian dropped down, trying to pick up and gather the shards of the cup, trying to clean, trying to fix his mistakes.
He could fix it, it would be okay.

Summary
There was a certain bliss to be found in the way the dimmed lighting hindered one's ability to see.
Yes, Grian would always prefer the dark.
There was a creaking noise, loud against the quiet backdrop of night time. Grian turned toward it, wings twitching slightly from where they were splayed out behind him.
“Man, someone's gotta get some oil on those hinges,” Skizz spoke, and Grian saw his head poke out through the trap door, an easy smile gracing his face.
