Summary
Shen Qingqiu is not gone at all.
He is very obviously still here, even if everyone is in agreement that something strange is going on with him. But he has the same habits, almost the same haughty attitude and he takes care of his peak. Something changed for him, and he doesn't tell anyone what it is.
Still, that's him. He is here and doesn't hurt anyone right now. So it's probably fine. Right?
Right. Best to just leave it alone. Shen Qingqiu hates when anyone tries to pry into his business, after all. And nobody wants to be the victim of an angry Shen Qingqiu.
Or:
Shen Jiu left his older twin brother Shen Yuan behind at the sect. Shen Yuan decides it would be fun not to tell people he's peak-sitting for his brother and instead pretend to be him. He knows his didi very well, so obviously nobody would be able to tell!
And while he's here, he might as well do some things to make his didi's job easier, right?

Summary
At 15 years old, Shen Yuan got beaten to death to save his didi from the same fate.
Both twins had always used every chance to sacrifice each other for their brother. Unfortunately, neither had ever wanted the other one to do as much. Even more unfortunately, nobody was able to stop Shen Jiu now that his gege wasn't with him anymore. And so the story continued:
At 18 years old, Shen Jiu found a ritual he knew he should not attempt but hid in his sleeve anyways.
At 29 years old, Shen Yuan opened his eyes in the body of Shen Jiu.

Shen Yuan paled. Oh no. Did Shen Jiu notice he wasn't the real Shen Ba? Already?! But he hadn't even done anything yet! Panicking, he tried for a smile.
"…Didi? You're hurt. What happened?"
Shen Jiu blanched. Didi? He had always been an only child, as far as he'd known. But… This stranger wore his face, almost exactly.
With a gasp, he sat up. Shaking eyes looked up at the tree above him. That wish earlier… Had it created a brother for Shen Jiu? How?!
