The last words come out a little breathless and desperate, causing Evangeline to worry about having said the wrong thing. Especially when Jacks stiffens at her words, his eyes widening. His gaze clouded and heavier than seconds before, pupils still dilated with obvious want.
“Do you have any idea what you’re saying, Evangeline?” he hoarsely questions, brushing his fingers through her hair.
Evangeline's breath catches in her throat.
“Yes.”
