  “Oh, I don’t know,” Slit drawls. He doesn’t sound out of breath, sounds almost unaffected, and for a moment, Nux hates him for it. “Better not. Can’t make trouble this way.”

  PWP with some plot: Nux is trialling to get picked by a lancer. He does get picked by a lancer, only he gets more than he bargained for. He is also horribly ill-prepared for what this particular lancer considers an essential part of the process.
