Summary
"I was thinking summer." Shane said afterwards.
Ilya tilted his head up from where it was resting on Shane's chest. "Summer for what?"
"For the wedding."
Ilya blinked, assessing Shane's face. "You would want to get married in secret?"
Shane shrugged. "It doesn't have to be a secret. I don't want our wedding blasted on ESPN or anything, but… we could stop hiding. The next time your team asks where you were over the weekend, you can say you were at your boyfriends place."
"Fiance." Ilya said numbly.
Shane smiled, squeezing Ilya's hand. "Fiance. Then we can start feeling people out, seeing if they'd be okay if they knew about us. By the time summer rolls around, everyone we care about will know."
________________What if Shane and Ilya didn't have to come out to the whole world? What if they could live a quiet life with each other, free from League-wide homophobia, incessant questioning by the press, and the pressure to prove their relationship is worth it by bringing Ottawa their first cup?
