Ilya stops tracing the grooves of Shane’s abs to squint up at him. “The what? No.”
Shane shrugs. “I was pretty high when I woke up. I haven’t really thought about it since, but I swear, it’s like I saw the future." He tilts his head further into the pillow so he can face Ilya completely and stroke sweaty curls off his forehead. Ilya sighs and pushes into it. His eyes shut contentedly. Shane's heart is so full it could burst.
Quietly, he amends, “Our future.”

I probably should've called, Shane thinks for the first time. Oh well. He’s already knocking. Yeah, it would’ve been smart, but he's also probably fucking concussed, so who cares.
It’s taking him a minute to answer; longer than Shane’s ever waited. Shane lets his heavy head fall against the door with a thunk. [...] He stands straight— as straight as he can—one second before Ilya opens the door. His hair’s wild from sleep and he’s rubbing his squinting eyes. Then he drops his hand. His mouth goes slack.
"What the fuck? Shane?”
“Sorry,” for last time, is what Shane means to say. Instead, he gets through the first word and his body decides it’s finally time to give out. Everything goes black, and then he’s in Ilya’s arms.
Ilya curses in Russian again, folding to the floor with Shane’s weight held in his lap. He rips the mask off Shane’s head. The sharp burst of panic (and pain, probably from the foyer light) is what reminds Shane to force his numb foot awake and kick the door closed behind them. Definitely concussed. Shit.

Maybe it’s Shane’s tone, or, he realizes, the way he tightens his hold. Ilya glances up at him and his grin turns sly. “Yes. Why, you like that?”
There’s no point in lying. Shane doesn’t want to. He nods. “Yeah. ‘S nice to get to guide you for once. You can let go of the reins a little and I can show you how you deserve to be treated.”
