Summary
Their last summer like this, probably. Next summer Ilya will be knee-deep in prospect camps, won’t be able to give Shane the attention he needs. They’ll still go away. There will be a couple of weeks at the cottage, maybe another week somewhere in Europe. But it won’t be the same. Ilya can’t imagine not being Shane’s coach at all, not in any capacity. Not having any ownership over the lines he carves into the ice, the specific rub of his thumb over his stick as he adjusts the angle, the efficiency of his arm drive.
