Tails is smart. He is also young and alone. He doesn't know what safety or love is. He's never had such things before.
A kid hedgehog shows up and takes it upon himself to show the young fox just what it means to be safe and loved.
Tails clings onto this new sense of love and safety with all his might.

Notes:

This AU is softer in the fact that - well, it is softer content, maybe - Tails is just a little closer/clingier to Sonic than in canon.
Expect a lot of cuteness and, of course, angst moving forward. >:3
