Summary
It’s not laughing gas, he’s had that before and the smell is different. It doesn’t feel quite the same either. And it’s not Ivy’s pollen or Joker gas.
Whatever it is, it makes his muscles go lax and his body feel floaty. He sighs into the mask as his body relaxes.
What’s wrong with what they’re doing again? He can’t remember.

Summary
“I formulated this just for you,” Bruce says in a tone Dick has never heard from him. It’s something dark and breathy. Hungry. He watches Dick struggle without an ounce of remorse.
Eventually, Dick loses the fight and sucks in a deep, desperate breath.
A sharp, overwhelming horror hits him when it fills his aching lungs.
The scent is unfamiliar. He’s had anesthesia before, laughing gas, oxygen. It’s nothing like any of those—not even the acrid smell of Fear Toxin, the sweet floral scent of Ivy’s pollens, the rotten smell of Joker gas. It’s something he can’t even describe.
Later, he’ll say it’s the smell of sunshine.
