“...Well… Now that we’ve established that I’m not dead, perhaps we could return to the point of our meeting?”
Helen’s focus hasn’t shifted, eyes tracking the darkness at the far end of the hall, tracing shadows as the words leave their mouth without much thought. It’s discomforting, like they’re having a conversation with some unseen ally. It makes Liu want to turn on every light in his apartment, lock his bedroom door, curl up in a ball and cry in a corner.
“And… What would that point be?”
“Ms Arkensaw.”
The name is like a bucket of cold water dumped over his head.
“… Is she… okay?”
“She’s going to get herself killed.”
“Oh… That’s not… good.”
