Scamander's Snare:
You're taken under his wing, shown his way of life in and out of the suitcase. He grows unbearably fond of you but starts to dislike how much you take on to help- and lessens your load (everything is several times easier for him to do, you poor incapacitated creature). But then one day something you say sets forth a new path in his head: he recognizes that he can do it all for you; everything. You can't so much as make a meal without giving all your attention and a minimum of an hour at a time on it. After all, he knows what his creatures need better than they know themselves, and it dawns on him that what you need is- well, him.

Riddle's Route:
There's something about you being a Squib that must contribute to his lack of influence over you. Everything he's done to guarantee his success with the others that actually matter doesn't dissuade your mistrust or even overall feelings towards him. If he can break it down and learn from this opportunity later in his life, then he will. It doesn't register to him that you're simply an instinctual and stubborn creature, and once he finally figures it out, he's already become completely obsessed with you, but now he's rather endeared by how simple it all was. How simple you are.
