Summary
After 27 years in Los Angeles State Prison, the depressed Kami (formerly Count D4) is abducted by his deranged predecessor, Count D3. During a chase involving a prison transport truck, D3 performs a mystical feat that transports them back to 1995—three years before the tragic Incident of '98.
Styling himself "D the Great," D3 alters his son's face and flees to exact revenge on his past self. Abandoned in a dilapidated theater, D4 is struck by a vehicle upon leaving and ends up hospitalized. After donning a patient's gown and escaping, he seeks refuge in a car belonging to Agent Jill—a friend of Detective Leon Orcot and Count D5, who runs the shop during this era.
With Leon and D5 set to meet in just a few days, D4 adopts the identity of "Roger Kim." After solving a brutal murder using his mystical abilities, he is hired by the LAPD as a consultant, with Jill assigned as his handler and assistant. While investigating crimes, Roger must stop D the Great without altering the past or crossing paths with his younger self.
