Summary
"Are you sick?"
Ryland looks up from his monitor to meet Courtland Gentry's scrutinizing eyes. Despite already burning from inside and out, he feels an extra tinge of warmth on his cheeks.
"No," he says, though his voice comes out hoarse.
"Are you sure?"
Ryland knows Court doesn't believe him, but he's not going to admit defeat that easily. Especially not to the man who's running the operation. Not to the infamous Sierra Six who, before he became an intelligence officer, was a part of the CIA's Special Activities Center, one of the agency's most elite covert operations division, and did very badass, very dangerous stuff.
Or at least that's what his groupies seem to say.

Summary
Ryland has to pretend like his heart isn't leaping at the proximity. He brings the glass to his lips again, tipping it back as he holds Court's gaze over the brim. He looks even better up close. Always stupidly handsome, with his neatly trimmed beard, deep blue eyes, and dark blond hair that looks more brown under indoor lighting.
"Hmm. Did you tell everyone to go home earlier because you wanted to cook for me?"
"I…I did have that in mind, yes."
Ryland chuckles at the sheepish look on Court's face. "What else did you have in mind?"
Three months after their first date, Ryland and Court spend some time after work at Court's apartment.
