Jay laughed once again, bright and musical and something that made Kai fall in love all over again every time he heard it.
“Oh my FSM,” Jay said. “Oh, you idiot.” He didn’t seem to be able to say any more than that.
“Cotton candy?” Kai asked, even though he already had it memorised, the way he had everything about Jay memorised, from the sound of his laugh to the placements of his freckles to the way he liked to be held.
Kai and Jay go out on their first proper date in years, and of course it’s to the place they first fell in love

Lilly put the bread in the toaster and finally turned around, facing Libber, who had long since turned in her seat. Libber practically glowed inside. Mine, she thought as she threaded her fingers into dark, dense locks. My Lilly. My girl. She pressed a kiss to the side of Lilly’s neck. My Lilly-love.
It’s a lazy morning in the Monastery, and Libber’s feeling needy.

But Rogue wasn’t there anymore.
It was Jay. Her Jay. The Jay from her memories, the Jay that she remembered. The Jay that she fell in love with. He just had funky ears on the top of his head now, adorned with earrings and charms and whatnot.
Jay has wolf ears now. Turns out, wolves can get affected by dog whistles, too. And Ras may have trained Jay . . . and not just via sparring.

“Zane, buddy,” Kai said. “Come on. Make some ice.”
Kai scooted closer to Zane and Jay wanted to do the same, but now Kai was there and Kai radiated heat, so he couldn’t go there. He refused to go near Kai in summers, and he’d already heard a million complaints in the past few years. Less kisses, less hugs. Kai always complained that Zane hogged Jay.
Well, Jay thought as he lolled his head to the side to look at Kai. Who’s doing the hogging now?
A heatwave hits Ninjago City and the power in the Monastery goes out, making Kai, Jay and Zane go to get ice cream.
After Jay almost shrivels up in the heat, of course.
