Summary
Lestat had pulled a young customer into the corner and was standing way too close to him. The young man was clearly drunk and his tie had begun to loosen and slip over his collar. Louis’ blood boiled as Lestat reached out and fixed the tie with deft touches. He lingered a bit too long, letting his finger lazily brush the skin above the collar. Lestat looked coyly over his shoulder with his hand still wrapped around the tie and found Louis’ gaze. For someone looking like an angel, his expression was downright devilish.

Armand dropped his eyes with practiced submission as Louis filled up the doorway. The display of obedience made Louis scoff. “What? One little word is enough to bring the master of Paris to his knees?” He moved closer, and his voice dropped. “You’re playing now. But you won’t be soon.”

It didn’t make him hurt, or beg, or dig his claws in with anger. They laughed together; they could be perfectly happy just sitting on the couch watching tv; the sex was fun and easy. This is what Louis wanted. Lemuel didn’t sit there blankly staring at him, trying to make Louis guess what he wanted. Lemuel didn’t become an overdramatic diva, screaming and flouncing around, because Louis had the audacity to talk casually to another man at a bar. Was it love? Louis wasn’t sure about that, but it didn’t matter. They were taking things slow. It was nice. It was what he wanted.
