Summary
“How can you do this?” she spits. “Pretend they never existed?”
Lestat falters, his smile turning sad. “Oh, ma petite.” he sighs.
It sounds condescending. It’s also very unlike Lestat, who would have sooner had a shouting fit had she brought it up back in New Orleans. Never one to talk about his feelings.
Now, he keeps her gaze.
“I have just learned how not to show it. You will, too, in time. I will teach you how to endure.”
Lestat and Claudia survive the trial.
