The omegaverse adoption au series literally no one asked for

Notes:

Presentation
There's never a presentation in that sense. A newborn will start emitting a scent a few days after birth and from which you can usually tell the secondary gender.
Also, with male omegas and female alphas it's like, super easy to tell their gender, because, you know, wombs. (Female alphas completely lack a womb and can't carry children themselves)

Instincts
Unlike it's always described an alpha/Omega will not know when they act on instinct. Just like normally, we often don't know when something is instinct until later.

Scents
Unlike described in most fanfiction, I don't think you can actually describe someone's smell by using other things to describe it, like strawberries or cinnamon or something.
A persons smell is unique to that person alone and it's hard to compare it with objects, but maybe with feelings or memories or something.
A pack or family will form a similar smell from all the time they spent together, but each will still have a unique scent for themselves.
You also can't use scent patches to cover up your status, because patches can either only block out your scent completely, which will tell everyone that something's wrong or give off an artificial smell that's immediately recognized.

Alpha
Alphas are at the very top of the hierarchy. They make up about 30% of the population. 70% of the alphas are designed male at birth, while 30% are designed female at birth.
Most alphas aren't mindlessly aggressive, though that is their stereotype. An alphas main instinct is to care and protect after all.
An alpha will only form a knot under the influence of an omegas heat scent. They're also capable of resisting the urge to claim and mate(more like it disappears), if they don't know if their omega is healthy. For example if they think their omega hasn't eaten or drunk enough, they can push their omega to eat, even if they have a heat phase.

Beta
Betas make up 50% of the population, 50% dmab and 50% dfab.
Betas have a scent too and the same sensitive nose as Alphas/Omegas, they just don't have that certain thing to them that marks them as Alpha or Omega.
Betas also aren't under the same influence of instincts as omegas/alphas are.

Omega
Omegas are the lowest in the hierarchy. They make up 20% of the population, with 65% dfab omegas and 35% dmab omegas.

Heat
An omega will not loose his every sense during heat. Not at first at least. An omega won't let any alpha get close to them or try anything unless they've proven their worth. Similar to a cats heat, where the female cat will literally fight the tomcat unless it's proven it's worth to the female cat.
Heats usually start around age 16, give or take. It can last from three days to a full week. Omegas experience a heat usually every three months, so four times a year. Taking suppressants is dangerous, since it can risk infertility.
If an omega was knotted during their heat (whether with a toy or an alpha doesn't matter) and they didn't get pregnant, they may experience some stomach pains after their heat, much like the stomach pains during a period.

Rut
Ruts usually start at age 17, give or take again. They only happen twice every year, ranging from two to five days.
Alphas in rut have to deal with more loss of sense than omegas do during their heat. An alpha will act purely on instinct, which doesn't mean they're at risk of hurting their mate, since one of their main instincts is to protect. Rather, an abusive alpha during rut is gonna be the nicest they've ever been.

Society
Unlike the normal society, the a/b/o society always tells alphas to be strong and imposing so they can impress and protect their omega mate. Just like in the animal kingdom where the males have to impress the females before they can mate.
Of course omegas often get the message too that they should be small and delicate, so the alphas pride isn't hurt too.
A/o relationships are overly glorified in media, basically only sporting those and almost rejecting the idea of a/a, o/o, a/b or o/b relationships.
Betas are also generally unseen in media, even though they make up the biggest part of the population. Just because they don't have any 'interesting dynamic'. (Some deny that and just say that a beta main character wouldn't be as interesting, basically confirming it)
So, whatever dynamic you are, society will tell you how and what to do and if you do it too perfectly you're 'shallow' or other stupid stuff.
Same sex couples are usually fine, as long as the dynamics are right.
