Summary
“Okay like first of all, your deadpan is way freaky and it’s going to take me a while before I don’t immediately take you seriously,” Stiles says. Then he smacks Derek on the ribs. “Secondly, you’re kind of a dickhead.”
“Well, to be fair, you knew that about me already, and you’re still here,” Derek points out.
Stiles huffs, then leans in to kiss his neck, then the edge of his jaw, then his mouth again. “I’m still here,” he says. “I’m not going anywhere.”

“You been waiting long?” Derek asks.
Stiles stands up, stretching and his back pops. He laughs when Derek winces sympathetically. “No, just like five minutes. Miguel came and gave my crotch a nice sniff, and then I made best friends with your couch for a bit.”
“All that in five minutes, hmm?” Derek asks, holding a hand out toward Stiles' voice.

Summary
Derek knows he should be more annoyed, should be more frustrated, but instead he just feels loved and cared for, and almost afraid because this is so much of what he’d always wanted for himself. A partnership, someone who just wanted to co-exist the way couples did without everything being a big damn production.
And right now it feels like that’s exactly what he has.
He’s afraid, because he’s not often this lucky. At least, not with love, and this feels like it could really, really be something.

He reaches into his pocket and pulls the key out that Laura ran off to Ace to get copied, and he grabs Stiles’ wrist, feeling to make sure his palm is open before pressing the metal there. “This is for you.”
“I. Uh. What.”
Derek clears his throat and tries not to panic. “For you to have. Because I don’t want to…I want my place to be like your place. I don’t want to have the right to tell you to just go like that. I might need space some days, I might need you to take a drive or something. But I want you to come back. I always want you to come back.”
Stiles breathes, and it’s shaking a little, and his voice is tight when he says, “Yeah. I want that too.”
“And maybe when your lease is up we can. Uh. Revisit?” Derek offers.

“You seem pretty happy this morning,” he points out.
Derek can’t help but grin as he cups Stiles’ face, feeling the rise of soft moles under the pads of his fingers and thinking just how beautiful Stiles is. And how much he loves him. “I am,” he says simply, and smiles when Stiles doesn’t press for a further answer.
