thebes. city of the living. crown jewel of pharaoh seti the first. and for joe, home to nothing but blood, sand, and death. and just when he’s given up hope, stuck in a prison in the desert, an ambition archaeologist and his brother break them out. and joe, he’s man of his word and now they’re halfway across egypt searching for the city of the dead. and just when he think his life taking a turn for the better and just as he’s getting close david, the too-smart-for-his-own-good archaeologist unleashes an enemy that joe and the rest of the world have never seen before. and joe couldn’t help it if he tried, but he finds himself falling for david and his need to protect him is outweighing his need to live. and he knows david is feeling the same thing he is. and they’re sure it’s love but joe isn’t like david. isn’t willing risk their lives for the sake of the world. and he knows he should care about the rest of the world, but he can. he only cares about david right now. but he loves david and if david is willing to risk his life for the world, for their love, joe is willing to risk life itself.

Summary
leckie couldn’t believe he let web drag him onto another boat for another suicide mission against the bastards responsible for the most finning crimes in the world. yet here he was on another boat on another suicide missions…only this one is different. this one has a snarky captain who refuses to go anywhere without his rifle and is always making leckie feel like an idiot. which, for the most part, he already thinks he’s an idiot, but he doesn’t need the constant reminder. and it doesn’t help that every time leckie is hanging off the side of the boat, shirt off, struggling against the ropes, he can feel those warm eyes on him, heating him like the sun’s strong rays. and then it all goes to shit. the shark they’re fighting to protect is unlike any they’ve ever seen before. but it can’t stop them. won’t stop them from fighting for it. this is why they’re here. all of them. and if leckie has to die to protect them all, well it’s what he signed up for. maybe this really would be a suicide mission after all, but it would be worth it.

parties, booze, and freedom. the time they lived in gave them everything. but for two men with a penchant for trouble and adrenaline, it wasn’t enough. instead, they chose the road less travelled. the road that separated them from the others. the faster road to freedom…to fortune…to fame. it was also the road to a faster death. and maybe, perhaps, that’s what they what they were chasing before they met one another. maybe it’s what they’re still chasing. but since their first heist together, they chased the high of one another’s smile instead of the next heist. and eventually the only thing they chased wass one another. the only thing they wanted to steal was another kiss from the other. the only person they cared about was one another. so they decide to get out. one last heist. and as luck would have it, all this time they weren’t chasing death at all. no. it was death that was chasing them.

Summary
for joe, there wasn’t a lot he’d ever done or said that he regretted. but rejecting web and putting him through the ringer for not coming back during bastogne, would be one of them. not because he felt wrong or unjustified in what he and the other men had done. web just always had a knack for following the rules and joe couldn’t entirely blame him for not breaking them. and besides, he would wish the horrors of bastogne on his worst enemy, let alone the man he loved. and that was the real kicker wasn’t it? the fact that out of all the men and women joe’s met and known and been with, web is it for him. the one that had somehow made it past more of joe’s tough exterior than anyone else. which is why, when web tells him he’s enlisted to join the effort in the pacific, joe loses it. and it’s in a the small confines of some barely standing shell-shocked building that the entirety of joe’s heart and soul is laid bare for web to either protect, and tie them together forever, or destroy, and both completely break joe as well as set him free. and joe doesn’t know which one he hopes for more.

there was a lot that nate didn’t think would happen in his life. he didn’t think he’d ever have to go to war. he didn’t think he’d ever have to know what it was like to shoot and kill another human being. he didn’t think he’d ever have to learn how to deal with the immense loss and failure he’d feel when a man he was a supposed to protect, dies. but most of all he didn’t think, of all places he’d find love, would be amidst battle when his entire world shift from dull black and white into a mass of colors and brightness. and from the moment his eye lock with brad’s he knows that the entire course of his life has shifted. he sole focus is to make sure that he and brad make it out alive with the rest of their men. and above all, he didn’t think he’d ever have to find out what his life would be like without his soulmate. not after he’d just found him. and from the moment brad’s lips touch his, he knows that he’d do anything to make sure that neither of them would have to know such horror.
