Summary
Jerry had made the suggestion. That wasn’t unusual in and of itself. Jerry often took the lead in matters between them. It was how Alec preferred things to proceed.
What had given Alec pause was the suggestion itself. It was daring even for them. And it would turn things rather topsy turvy to their usual dynamic.

Summary
"Does it hurt?" Jerry stepped closer, running a proprietary finger over the metal cage which contained Alec's poor, tortured cock.
"No," Alec gasped out, swaying towards Jerry's warmth like a flower to the sun. "But I ... I could feel it."
The weight of it, swaying between his legs when he walked. The fit of the cage was snug, pinching when Alec became too excited, which had happened shamefully often throughout the day. The devilish device had been created to deter men from self-abuse, but evidently Alec was a different sort. The reminder of Jerry's ownership had had him breathless and squirming, suffering through the most lascivious fantasies as his pencils idled over his sketchbook.

Summary
John Garland considered himself lucky. After the way he’d been sacked, no hotel would employ him, and he hadn’t been able to find anything else. His work at a gambling hell was not what he was used to, but he was paid, and it was (mostly) honest work. But then Lord Sidney Box started frequenting the place.

Summary
Alec couldn’t have said what woke him up.
The floors hadn’t creaked, at least not more than they usually did in the night. None of the neighbors beneath him had shouted or dropped anything. When he blinked his eyes open, there was a faint glow from the brazier, a little slice of moon coming through the window. And then a shadow between them, and then the shadow was coming closer–
“Don’t scream,” it said. Alec opened his mouth to disobey and found a hand clamped over it. He inhaled through his nose, thrashing in the narrow bed, and smelled– something familiar, cigar smoke and– “Jerry?” he said incredulously, getting his mouth free. His body relaxed before his mind could interfere. Jerry wouldn’t hurt him.
Jerry punched him in the gut.

Summary
“Jerry?” Alec asked.
He’d started out the night calling Jerry “Vane”, until Jerry had convinced him to use his first name. It was kind of sweet that he was now continuing the practice while Jerry was standing there in front of their host's safe, holding in one hand a skeleton key and in the other hand a switchblade.
“Alec! How odd to run into you here. Tell me, what were you doing under Sir William’s bed?”

Summary
The oval-cut diamonds were obscenely large, hypnotically bright, calling up a delicious mixture of guilt and wonder and covetousness and unease that Alec kept sipping at like a man unaccustomed to strong spirits.
