    Inspired by SlyFoxCub and their ABO AU setting. What if the Emperor of Mankind did not issue his fated challenge to Mortarion, realizing it would create far more resentment than he originally expected, but his son scaled the mountain alone after their meeting? Stealing his injured son off of the mountain before he reached the summit, the Emperor is left with an unwilling son who doesn’t acknowledge him, instead pining away as he stares out in space in the direction of Barbarus. What – or who – is he looking for? Platonic Mortarion and his Death Guard friends, with romance between Mortarion and Calas Typhon.
