Summary
Seeing her sister's dead body flipped a switch inside Alison. Of course, she had seen the body for real the first time, the night of the accident, the night they left her in a cave. But seeing her again, her body cold and stiff, her skin pale and sallow and devoid of all things, sent something cold up her spine. And to send her off in a flurry of flames, a beacon floating off on the ocean, with a proper funeral, that was the final goodbye. A goodbye to Lennon's life in one way, and a goodbye to Alison's in another.
It's some sick sort of blessing, she thinks. To be given a new life. She can almost start over. Not quite, but almost. And if she's been given this life as Lennon, she might as well make it worth living in.
