“As I’ve said many times,” Gavriel teased, knowing his son was beating himself up over this. “I am happy with however much of your time you’re willing to give me. I’d love to just spend the day with you, talk, go out to the city, whatever you want, but if you’re not ready for that - and you don’t ever have to be ready - then I’m happy for us to do nothing.”
“You make it hard to have an argument.”
Gavriel sighs, “That’s not what’s happening here.”

Summary
Lorcan snarled but it was a light hearted sound. None of them wanted to risk upsetting the young girl who had only just built up the courage to join them in the training courtyard. Not that Gavriel blamed her, considering it was the one place all of them allowed the vicious sides of themselves to come out and play.
It was no place for a young girl.
Aedion, of course, disagreed and had been encouraging the girl to join them at any opportunity possible. Apparently that also meant pausing training sessions to braid Evangeline's hair.

It was during Rowan’s second week in Aelin’s town house that he discovered Aedion was a sleepwalker. Well, after he had decided that the prince wasn’t inhabited by one of the Valg. Aelin had once pulled a stunt that would have turned Rowan’s hair white with stress if it hadn’t already been silver; it had left him pacing the apartment, unable to settle with the thought of them being vulnerable in their sleep.

Summary
He could feel their attention on him, like an incessant buzzing under his skin, constantly reminding him of all the reasons why the Cadre were concerned. Sure, Aedion understood their worries, it was the first time he was visiting Adarlan in over two years. Without Aelin or his Bane by his side no less, which he could admit left him feeling a little unguarded.
Not that he would ever admit it.
But this meeting was important for diplomacy and showing their two people that peace was still their best option. So Aedion kept a tight leash on his nerves and checked over the box containing his gift one last time.

Aedion, of course, had less tact when expressing his distaste for vegetables as a child than Evangeline did, but it seemed both of them hated eating their carrots, peas and green beans.
How ridiculous was it for him to feel so guilty all of a sudden?
Twelve years, two wars, thousands of deaths, a new monarch and all of sudden the Great Lord Darrow, rebel leader and advisor to the queen was suddenly doubting himself? Over fucking vegtables?
