When a letter from the Japan Hunters Association came in, inviting Isagi to join their new, special training program for Espers and Guides, Isagi honestly wasn't sure how to feel.
It's not that the boy detested his nature as a Guide. Not at all. Okay, maybe a little bit. The whole time he was walking home from that devastating match earlier, Isagi was dragging his feet and keeping his head down, a feeling akin to... incompetency eating away at his ego. From Olympic athletes to world-class Hunters, those idols that every child looked up to were usually, if not always, Espers. Their superior genes and abilities placed them far above Neutrals and Guides. No matter how hard he trained—how much blood, sweat, and tears he shed, he can only exist within the shadows of teammates and rivals with that biological advantage. He will always be a Guide on paper, no matter what he tells his schoolmates. Isagi is fine with that. At least that's what he tells himself, time and time again.
