Summary
His heartbeat knocked furiously through the arteries on either side of his throat as he swallowed every other second, battling the saliva pooling under his tongue. The refrigerator yielded him nothing but stale organs and chemical supplies, any of which was bound to make him sick- he scrabbled at almost-empty blood bags, but the clotted, crusted remnants repelled him like mold. The anger that pushed him through the day was long gone, and desperation clawed at his ribs from the inside out. Medic swept his clawed hands through his hair, gloves long gone, clasping them over his ears as he knelt in front of the vacant fridge. Tears were already building behind his glasses as he whined- a low, distressed rumble, rattling through his brain like thunder. He was just so fucking hungry.

Summary
The US Government had declared war on Russia, and almost immediately sent out a draft calling for every able-bodied man between 18 and 45. Considering that description fit every merc on either side, five minutes of panic ensued before someone read their sister letter that got delivered with the draft. A letter from Redmond or Blutarch respectively- explaining that each man paid a wealthy sum to the government to keep their “employees” under their control. They’d effectively dodged the draft the second it was sent, and they were free to carry on like usual.
The problem?
BLU team’s Scout had gotten fired the week before.
