In which Jon Connington knows about Jon Snow. Chased out of Essos and wary of returning to the Stormlands or anywhere else so far south, he takes Aegon to The North in a desperate bid to convince Ned Stark to give the boy sanctuary:
“Is that Wylla Manderly behind Lord Wyman?” Robb asked, Sansa shrugging but figuring that that would make sense. It was the other one that had her attention, his curious eyes drawing her memory back to a pale-haired boy, crouching in a corridor years go.
Sansa thought very little of that night. At times, she would pass by her father’s chambers and remember the pale-haired boy lurking there, or a sudden bout of curiosity would lead her to ask Ned Stark what came of him, but that was the extent of it for a long time.
So, it came as some surprise that, when she saw the blue-haired boy, as near a man as her eldest brothers, gazing about the room beside Lord Manderly, she should recognize him so quickly.

Summary
When Alistair appeared in the world of A Song of Ice and Fire, he knew impressively little about the world, its plot, the characters, and, really, anything useful. What little he did know was primarily centred around the iconic quote
"When you play the game of thrones, you win, or you die. There is no middle way" - ... Someone
This, combined with the knowledge that Ned Stark, who was the hero, sort of, since he was part of the rebellion against the mad king, told him that the winning move for a commoner, or smallperson, he supposed, was not playing.
Then he caught wind of the kidnapping of Lyanna Stark, and that two Starks he had not heard of were coming to confront and demand things from the Mad King.
The Mad King infamous for burning people.
He suddenly had an inkling concerning what started the rebellion, and what made Ned the Lord Paramount of the North. So, before he fled King's Landing, he thought he should at least see the people he doomed through inaction.
Then he saw how the people of Westeros reacted to the burning of two innocent men, one who was only twenty-two. Then he decided that Westeros needed good to triumph far more than he needed to avoid losing the game of thrones.
