My long-delayed fix-fic for Game of Thrones Season 8.
Inspired by the many Braime fics on this site and elsewhere of which I have grown so fond.(Taking place after The Long Night and the first few scenes of The Last of the Starks)
King's Landing teeters on a knife's edge as it waits for the arrival of the Dragon Queen who continues her conquest across the Seven Kingdoms.
Queen Cersei Lannister's paranoia grows ever more constant and predatory and her brother Jaime, now more her captive than her lover, must always be there to bear the brunt of it.
And he knows he has no-one else to blame. He made his choice.
He must be there when Cersei's baby is born.
And then, Seven willing, he will return to the woman he truly loves.Yet, unknown to him, that same woman is every bit a prisoner, down in the fourth level of the Red Keep, with a child of her own inside her.
Jaime's child.

The sword no longer belonged to the North, no more than his father, Eddard Stark, belonged to the North. The Bolton boy whispered in his ear: “If you want your father's sword, you must learn to grow claws.”
After the Battle of the Trident, Rhaegar Targaryen ascended the Iron Throne. To protect the child found in the ruins of the Tower of Joy, he compelled his hostage Ned Stark to proclaim to the realm that the child was a bastard of House Stark. That child was the son of Lyanna and the new king, another legitimate heir to the Iron Throne.
