This story is set just after the end of season 5. Due to COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions, in the end, Caroline and Gillian did decide to settle down together. Not completely sure where I'm going with this, but after seeing season 5, it was more than obvious to me Caroline and Gillian had to get together.
