Summary
Three months ago, while responding to a fire, TK failed to save two young children trapped inside the burning house. The incident haunted him for days, as he kept dreaming of the children burning in that house. These nightmares tormented him every night, making him relive the tragedy over and over. This grief drove him back to the drugs he had quit years ago. After overdosing and slipping into a coma, TK woke up, left the hospital, and quit his job. Believing that a new environment might help him heal, he moved from his hometown to Texas, where he bought a house with a yard.
On the very first day in his new home, he found a bearded dragon in his yard and decided to adopt it. For the next two months, that bearded dragon became his only companion as TK spent his days cocooned in blankets, watching movies on the couch. By the end of the second month, he felt ready to return to his profession and rejoined the fire department.
Three months after moving to Texas, one day while taking his bearded dragon for a walk in a nearby park, TK unknowingly met his soulmate.

“No, don’t eat all of it!” She heard TK say on her left and joined him.
When he appeared in front of her eyes, squatting in front of three pigeons, two adults and one baby assumed by its height, Gwyn let out a small laugh, both in relief of her son not doing anything drastic that would put his life in danger and in humor because turned out, baby pigeons were absolutely horrendous.

Carefully and without taking his eyes off the reptile, he moved a little closer to the tank, constantly reminding himself that his boyfriend seemed to really love that lizard who tried to eat a man. He turned to grab the mealworms, only to accidentally push them to the floor with the way he wasn’t actually looking at what he was doing. Okay, maybe it was a good idea to take his eyes off the lizard for a couple of seconds. It couldn’t be that fast, right?
He quickly bent down to grab the little container which had of course rolled back and under the coffee table. He reached for it blindly, only slightly dislocating his shoulder as he did so and pushed himself back up to just get this over with-

Summary
TK and Carlos drive to the greenbelt to release Lou the Lizard. A thunderstorm gathers during their journey, and TK starts to grapple with some self-loathing issues that Carlos has to soothe, thus culminating in a much-needed discussion between them about their relationship so far, regrets they have gathered like the storm above them, and the nature of trust and love.
Set just after Season 3, Episode 15 – canon compliant with some added oomph in terms of making them want to marry each other.

“Carlos, you will never guess what happened today.” TK calls out as he steps inside the loft after an extended shift due to a radiation site, alien hunters, and finding out one of their team had another new family member. “You are never going to believe this.” As TK steps closer to the couch, he realizes that his boyfriend had fallen asleep waiting for him to get home. He runs his fingers through Carlos’ wild curls, loving the way they felt, even though it had no effect in waking the man up. He places a kiss on his forehead before trying “Carlos?” After a couple of seconds of nothing, he tried “Babe.” TK thought it was good that he had quick reflexes and was able to dodge the man as he jumped off the couch.

Paul glances up from the cutting board and peers at the container before gasping. “Oh my God. No. Nope!” He points his knife at them both. “Get that thing right out of this kitchen, TK. I’m cooking!”

“I guess we better tidy this place up,” Carlos says with a sigh.
At first, TK stays quiet. He tightens his grip around Carlos, buries his face further into his neck, and lets out a little puff of air that tells Carlos he is against this idea. Which, well, to be fair, tidying isn’t TK’s favorite thing in the world, but Carlos did turn their home upside down looking for TK’s lizard, so he figures TK should at least help him tidy the place up.
Then again, this is nice, too. Even if there is a flesh-eating—despite TK saying otherwise—lizard staring right at them.
