After winning the World Championships 2014 right after the Sochi Olympics, these are the words he told her:
"I want to aim for the next Olympics."
Noriko Shirota has always hoped and dreamt that someday there will be a time when Japan will finally be within the reach of a gold medal. It will take years until her dream will be fulfilled, but until then… Midori Ito will become the catalyst and set the foundation of Japan's figure skating while others such as Takeshi Honda, Fumie Suguri, Minoru Sano, Shizuka Arakawa, Daisuke Takahashi, Mao Asada, and Miki Ando will pave way to a new generation and era of the sport.
