It felt like time was evading him, lost in a never-ending cycle of dirty floors and litter...
"Definitely feels like I'm working overtime..." Aiden would mumble to himself, heading outside as he grabbed his shovel and began another task. "There's a lot of fog today, huh." He would talk to himself, his mind occupied on his work as he rooted out the weeds one by one.

Because he liked it better—he liked the quietness that was such a polar opposite to all the elementary kids’ ruckus and rowdiness.
With everyone else, it was like they all got a memo on how to act—on how to feel, on how to talk, on what games to play—everyone except Aaaqil.
But with the two of them, Callum never seemed even remotely bothered by Aaaqil reading stories to him. He never protested when Aaaqil wanted to sit and crack open a book instead of running around—if anything, he seemed to like spending that time hanging onto every word of whatever fairy tale or storybook he had picked up for the day.
His dislike of physical education didn’t change with age, but Callum thrived in it. So, Aaaqil followed along.
