After Katrina, Robby is set afloat, untethered and alone. He quits his job, sells everything, and travels around the USA, chasing faith, searching for why he went into medicine in the first place. Trying to find meaning in a life he isn't sure he wants to live.
He makes his way to Oceanside, California, and comes across a man who hasn't seen kindness in a very, very long time.
Really, it was only a matter of time before they fell in love.

She steps over chords and lines and tubes, edges through the small gap between beds until she is standing on the other side of Adamson, across from Robby, able to see his face through the plastic faceguards. He has the same look on his face that he’s had since Adamson went down and left him, immediately and with no warning, in charge: unsure and lost and young. It angers her this time, for some reason; she wants to slap him, force him to live in this reality with her.
