--"You're early," Chen says by way of salutation. "Ricardo's not home yet."
"I had a couple errands in the area," you say evasively, joining Chen at the table. You put your bag down on the floor so that Spoon can climb halfway onto your lap for pets and kisses. "Didn't take as long as I thought. Figured that since I was here..."
"Hm," says Chen, which can mean literally anything, coming from him. But the corner of his mouth turns up just enough for a single, admittedly cute dimple to appear. He must be in a good mood; best to strike while the iron is hot, and he's more amenable to indulging you.
You gently let Spoon down and drag the shopping bag in front of you with your foot. "I, uh. Bought something. Um. For Ortega," you say awkwardly, drawing out your new bralette just enough for him to see.
Chen stares at it for a moment.
"I don't think it's going to fit him."
